Playing and fun in Trollskogen
"Trollskogen - Forest time instead of screen time"
The Troll Trail is a short and easy circular walk in Trollskogen – a safe and inspiring forest playground for the whole family, where imagination and nature meet in a way that encourages movement, play and togetherness in a natural setting.
The gravel path makes the trail accessible for both strollers and wheelchairs, while the surroundings are full of discoveries for children. Along the way you will encounter playful installations, animal figures, trolls, small exercises and games that invite curiosity, imagination and movement.
There is something to stop and explore almost all the time, making the trail perfect even for younger children.
Activities in Trollskogen
Troll Bingo
During the walk, children can play Trollskogen Bingo - a simple and fun activity where you look for animals and trolls along the trail and mark them on a bingo card. It’s a popular challenge for both children and adults and a great way to make the walk even more engaging. Bingo cards are available at the HalleHunneberg Visitor Centre during opening hours, and of course they are completely free. If you get bingo or complete the whole card, you can return to the Visitor Centre to collect a diploma.
Pine Cone Golf
Pine Cone Golf is a fun and challenging course with 9 holes spread throughout Trollskogen. At the starting point you will find a sign that says “Kottegolf i Trollskogen” - this is where the adventure begins.
The game is simple enough for younger children but can also be a challenge for older kids and adults. Take a pine cone at the starting point and try to throw it into the holes marked with flags. Once you get your pine cone into a hole, continue on to the next one.
How to play:
- Choose a pine cone that feels good in your hand.
- Aim for the hole by the flag.
- Continue to the next hole until all nine are completed.
Forest Obstacle Course
A challenge for all children who love to move, climb and play outdoors.
In the forest obstacle course, young adventurers can climb, balance and jump their way through different challenges. It’s a great way to practice both balance and coordination while competing with yourself or with friends. The course is designed to be both safe and fun, with obstacles suitable for different ages.
Picnic and Barbecues
There are several nice spots in Trollskogen where you can sit down and enjoy your own picnic.
The nearest barbecue area is located at Bergagården, where there are three barbecue grills. There are also several other barbecue sites around Bergagården and nearby areas. Please remember to bring your own equipment for grilling. Firewood can be purchased at the Visitor Centre, where you can also buy coffee, fika, ice cream and light refreshments.
The trolls Halle and Hunne kindly ask visitors not to barbecue inside Trollskogen, but to use the barbecue areas at Bergagården instead.
The Troll Forest on Hunneberg is a safe and imaginative meeting place for the whole family - with a special focus on children. Adventures await among trees and forest paths, with space for movement, learning, and friendship. Everything is free of charge and open to everyone.
In the forest, children can climb, balance, and jump on our new obstacle course - adapted by age and level of difficulty. Along the trail, you’ll encounter trolls and animals inviting you to play, explore, and learn in nature.
The Troll Forest is created to inspire more movement and less sedentary indoor time. Through play in a natural environment, children gain physical activity, develop motor skills, and strengthen their well-being. Spending time in the forest benefits both body and mind and strengthens the bond between children and nature.
The project is carried out with support from the EU, the Swedish government, and Leader Göta älv & Säveån.
